Continuing Education in Administrative Sciences 

Continuing Education in Administrative Sciences The Speyer University provides in-service training for senior civil servants of the State governments (the Länder) and, to a smaller extent, of local government authorities. Participants come from all levels of administration (ministries, local government and specialized government departments), as well as from German and foreign universities and research institutes. In-service training courses are held during the lecture interim (February to April and September to October). All courses are taught by professors and lecturers of the Speyer University. The in-service training programme has been expanded and developed considerably over the past few years and now consists e.g. of: 

	management seminars
	seminars on legislation
	seminars on European affairs
	seminars on local administration theory and practice
	workshop conferences on government
	specialized and research seminars
	open congresses and working conferences

These seminars, workshops and conferences deal with contemporary problems of administration. The results of the open congresses and of most of the working conferences are available to the public in the University publications.There is a special form of in-service training at the Speyer University: Management seminars are directed to senior civil servants of the states (Länder) and of local government authorities, and particularly to those in management positions or those destined for such positions in the future. These management seminars provide management knowledge and up-date the civil servants' specialized knowledge of current administrative practices while also incorporating the professional experience of each individual participant. Specialized seminars, research seminars, working conferences, and international forums, which are also offered, provide for the particular interests of senior civil servants.
